ChromaDepth

This Generator implements the ChromaDepth algorithm, potentially for use with ChromaDepth glasses.

Chromostereoscopy is a process of creating a stereoscopic 3D effect from a single 2D image by encoding depth information using color. The technique relies on the fact that different colors of light are refracted (bent) by different amounts when passing through a lens or prism. In the case of ChromaDepth glasses, red light is refracted the least, while blue light is refracted the most. This means that when viewing an image through ChromaDepth glasses, red areas of the image will appear to be closer to the viewer, while blue areas will appear to be farther away.

A bunch of years ago I used ChromaDepth to create an animation for my holiday cards.

The ChromaDepth algorithm is implemented with a shader so there are not left and right components to look at. Below is the final example.

four rotating cubes against a black background. The cubes are different shades of red.

This generator is closely related to the DepthMap generator.
