I built a Processing program to design and animate connect-the-dots type puzzles.
My first Processing project was a series of connect-the-dots animations, like this:
As the project grew I also made printable designs. I use these designs for the front of my holiday cards and the back of my personal cards.
To facilitate the design efforts positioning the dots, I built an Inkscape extension in Python. It extracts path information from a SVG file and creates the correct input file for my Processing program. Using this tool, I can make new designs in an hour or two.
The animations can be found on Vimeo.
There are also static pdf files:
- A Red Rose
- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
- A Duck
- Happy Holidays
- Merry Christmas
A silly idea I have is to make a whole collection of these and publish them in a book.
